Una Björg Magnúsdóttir

Una Björg Magnúsdóttir is an artist based in Reykjavík whose interdisciplinary practice takes the form of installation, sculpture and images. The hyper-familiar often appears in her work, with sculptural stage designs that narrate scenes that feel oddly familiar yet out of place. By imitating reality with obvious artificiality, Una re-renders common scenes with unsuspected objects, sounds and fragrances. 

Una has exhibited at galleries and institutions such as KEIV in Athens, GES-2 in Moscow, Nordatlantens brygge in Denmark, The Reykjavik Art Museum and Y gallery in Iceland. She obtained an MA in Visual Art at ÉCAL in Switzerland (2018) and BA in Visual Art at Iceland Academy of the Arts (2014). She is a board member of Kling&Bang Gallery in Iceland and Sequences Art Festival.

Una Björg Magnúsdóttir er starfandi myndlistarmaður í Reykjavík. Hið ofurkunnuglega birtis oft í verkum hennar, gjarnan sem skúlptúrískar sviðsmyndir sem líkja eftir raunveruleikanum með augljósri gervi. Þannig endurgerir hún fábrotinn hverdagsleikann með óvæntum munum, hljóðum, myndum og ilmum. 

Una hefur sýnt viðsvegar, til að mynd í KEIV í Aþenu, GES-2 í Moskvu, Nordatlantens brygge í Danmörku, Listasafni Reykjavíkur og Y galleríi. Hún lauk MA í myndlist við ÉCAL í Sviss (2018) og BA í myndlist við Listaháskóla Íslands (2014). Hún er stjórnarmaður í Kling & Bang og Sequences listahátíðinni.
